Felix, I’m not sure I understand your section and plan correctly. I read the section as follows: above the first floor (where you have the break-out space between north facing calss rooms and south facing exhibition/café space) you propose a single story enclosed area with a solid roof. A little mor e than half of the sleeping rooms open into this space, the rest enjoys connection to the out doors. I think the critics were asking you investigating the possibility of wintergardens between the three bars, with mostly glass roofs and a connection from this lit internal space down to the first floor lounge. Embrace natural light inside your building, but make sure it can be kept out by the user when too much! I still don’t understand the rear of the bar. What is supposed to happen there programmatically? I see in plan a series of desks lining the interior wall. What are these for? In section the upper floor enjoys a huge volume and clerestory windows, the second floor is rather unispired, and the first floor breakout space is a rather unfriendly dark cavern. I don’t think this is appropriate for the climate (or for visiting students). I like the ida of two wintergardens on the upper floors, but I need to see more effort to getting light down to that breakout space.
In your plan you need to watch for dead-end circulation (currently in the longer bar). You have three bars and three stairs, can this simple numerical relationship become a bit more architectural and the stairs be placed in a less random manner?

The spaces (the garden are still exists)between the bars are slopes down up to 3', This is enough opening (clerestorylike window) to allow the light penetrates first floor and creating dramatic lights on the first floor exhibition and breakout room.
I'm going to modify my section on third floor (above the 2nd floor corridor), to cut back the floor slab on the North side area to allow an opening for the northern light to penetrate 2nd floor.
I would be disagree to say 2nd floor is less inspiring to the 3rd floor, since they're both have their own unique features. For example, the small garden area between the bars are only accessible for 2nd floor occupancy, while the 3rd floors enjoys the large clerestory windows.
The stairs circulation are not randomly placed, rather is well thought process for safety and program reasons(direct access to the exit doors to the outside and, easy access between rooms to circulates between floors)
I can easily put all the stairs the same location on each bars, but it will not have the same effective access. The stairs that is located on the 3rd bar are functioning as a monumental stairs to celebrate the spaces that is occupied both private and public.
I did not put the programs and just place it randomly, I really put myself as the occupant of the building, and understandign different relationship between spaces. I hope as I progress along the way, the clearer I can express my ideas.
